Collages, paintings

My collages are fluid, automatic compositions made out of pieces and bits. Sometimes paint, sometimes pasted-up cut colours, mark-making and shapes. There is a point at which a collage is finished, which i suppose is simply the point at which its form is pleasing and unique in the universe.

Poems

The poems i make are different from collages only in their use of comprehensible language, but otherwise they are – in the same way – physically composed experiments. Words are empowered not only by their meaning in the language, but by their appearance, position, treatment, shape and sound. Perhaps even more so.

Symbols, design

The creation of symbols and marques which, combined with coerced lettering, colour schemes and other visual, verbal and linguistic elements, may stand for an entity's reputation, whether for commercial purposes or otherwise. Communicating complex notions in a single, simple, recognisable form. Like a collage, painting or a poem, a logo is composed from relevant, meaningful pieces. It is finished when its form is both pleasing and unique, and you are paid for your troubles.
